Jigsaw Piece

Janet asked if anyone would like to decorate one of her huge jigsaw pieces for her with a theme of ''home''. I love this sort of challenge so jumped at the chance, but when it actually arrived I was abit stumped and did just look at it for a couple of days. While trying to get a box from the top of a cupboard a stamp set hit me on the head, annoyed at first but then the light bulb went off. The plate was full of owls and little houses and tree branches so tah-dah!! Coloured with ProMarkers and 3D'd the branch and house, background actually has loads of layers starting with a book page, gesso and loads of stamping. Stewart Gill yummy byzantia paint to edge it and then covered with distress crackle paint in rock candy - now here's where the trouble began. The crackle paint smudged all my green ink that were leaf stamps and sucked the colour of the pro-markers up into the layer of crackled then once dry the crackle fell off where the pro-marker colouring was so I had to put on another layer very thinly and prey it stuck, which it did. Very odd indeed I shall remember this next time I use the crackle paint.

As I used ProMarkers for this I am entering it into the Passion for ProMarkers anniversary week challenge.

Janet very kindly made me this little plaque as a thank you for decorating the jigsaw piece, isn't it gorgeous!!! It currently has pride of place on my wall.

Tuesday Taggers Challenge

The challenge this week at Tuesday Taggers really perked my interest, a couple of weeks ago they said ''save your bits of rubbish from christmas'' So i did and then my mother threw most of it away, all i had left was this tag with a cute bell on it that really jingles too!! So presto changeo....

And here we have it, Embossed front and back with red glitter embossing powder, green inside.... now heres the fun bit, it wouldn't stick together so i had to get out the pinflair and squash it for an hour, took a fast pic and its still being squashed as i type. I made it so it will be a hanging tree decoration next christmas.

Cube

A little project i have been working on is one of them cubes if you remember from being a child that when you opened it up and folded it back showed a different image. This was my first attempt using ink and stamps. The stamps are from graphicus and the ink was various shades of green that i could put my hands on. Not bad for a first attempt but i do plan to take it apart and do it again working out how to make cleaner edges and better folds.

Arty girlz challenge 40 ''Nature'', created by hand challenge ''Altered''

For this weeks Arty Girlz challenge i decided to enter a decorated a tin, which also fits the altered theme for created by hand. This is a simple round tin you can buy from any good craft shop. The base is primed and takes alcohol inks so easily and looks lovely. Tho the ink can scratch very easily a fixative like glossy accents glaze or if you have it an acrylic paint fixative that you would spray on a canvas painting. No idea what i am going to fill it with yet. I made this tin at Samuel Taylors, I choose the colours and paper and ribbon used. The tin shape was chosen for me.

I Dare Challenge - Bobs - This week its all about challenge

For the I Dare challenge Bobs told me to make an ATC with glass on it..... so here it is same as below, memory glass, UTEE and perfect pearls. This also fits with the This week its all about challenge of ''clear''. Unfortunately i am not very well and unable to leave the house and my heat gun melted itself instead of my UTEE so i have been unable to make a new one specifically for This Thursday its all about, i hope they don't mind.

I Dare Challenge - Sherry

On a forum i entered an ''I Dare'' swap. The idea behind it is you are in a group of 5 people and you dare the 4 others to do something out of their comfort zone, within reason, you don't want to dare someone and make them spend lots of money. My Dare from Sherry was to decorate a house for her, the other 3 will do the same and she is going to make a wall hanging from it for her craft room. This is what i came up with, hope she likes it.

Faux Sea Glass Pendant

Let me first of all say, the picture does not do these justice at all. They are see through and held up to the light look totally amazing but make an awful photo :(
.
You need ink, memory glass frosted or not up to you, UTEE, perfect pearls and a whole lot of patience. I put them into memory frames that's also optional.

Arty Girls Challenge 35 Recycling

This weeks Arty Girlz challenge is to recycle something.

For my entry i decided to recycle an old tin i got for Christmas that had hot chocolate in it that was also awful so a good excuse to throw it away.

The new re-vamped tin is now full of buttons, you know the ones you get on new clothes and then always loose, well i do anyhow.

Slide Mailer

I made my first slide mailer this week. After a couple of troubles getting the paint even i finally managed to get a base i was happy with. Base paint is metallic acrylic paint, rain drops stamped with stazon on the front. Words stamped onto white card with brilliance pearlescent ink and daubed over the top with a lighter normal ink.

Inside words done the same way as the outside. Glass stamped with stazon and coloured on the back with sakura souffle pens. The glass was stuck down with stickles glitter glue.

WyvernSians 1 Stamp 5 ATC's Swap

For Wyvernsian's 1 stamp 5 ATC's Swap

1) I did the first in my melting pot by laying a thick piece of card in the bottom and sprinkling bronze embossing powder evenly over the top, once melted I inked up the stamp and pressed it into the enamel carefully.

2) The second i made using masking paper, which is sticky very slightly on 1 side. I stamped my image 3 times onto masking paper and carefully cut it out to be exact to the image. Stamped first into the middle of the ATC, then masked it, stamped again then masked it and repeat moving your masks around.

3) The 3rd one is very easy. Alter a domino piece with alcohol ink, stamp the image onto a matching background paper and then stamp part of the image onto the domino. Match it up and done. I prefer to use pinflair glue gel for this as it doesn't smell and is very strong.

4) The 4th one is a bit more difficult. Alcohol inked background, stamped on the background the image in white and then again in black but slightly offset to make a shadowed effect.

5) The 5th is my favourite. Background hand made with ink and sponges. On a piece of stampboard stamped my image and sponged the same background. With stampboard tools I scratched into the design and then coated with embossing powder to stop it for being scratched by accident.
