Just Magnolia Challenge 3

I really wanted to join in last weeks just magnolia challenge but time ran away from me so i didn't get chance. This weeks challenge however, is a fab sketch. I just got my hands on the dragonfly Tilda, but it does lend itself to being a bee also which inspired the yellow colour scheme. I had originally done this image with darker shades of yellow and black and blue but i broke the cardinal rule in my rush to colour the image..... I did the black first which bled into the yellow and that was a ruined image, so learning my lesson i took more time on this one and followed the basics of lightest colour first and bingo done in no time at all.

Sorry for the dark image, its gray and raining cant get it any brighter.

This item is copyrighted so be it on your own head and conscience if you copy it. I asked permission to put the picture of the one i made on my blog.

Christmas come early

Well it is April and since its spring I thought I would have abit of a spring clean..... this lead to me finding a very old Anna Griffin TSV I got from QVC ummm 2 years ago? Well instead of finishing off the spring clean I couldn't resist using my new Whiff of Joy stamps, above Willow with Lantern and below Willow with Muff. Both are coloured with prisma pencils and sansodor on smooth white card, everything else was in the kit.

Busy Week

This week I have been busy as bee with crafting. I recently received the cutest Tilda stamps I have ever seen, Tilda with Lamb and Tilda with Bunny. Both images are coloured with Prisma Color Pencils and then blended with Sansodor and a paper stump. The papers came from one of them awful £1 shop type ''Scrapbook Kit'' if you can call it that. I got it for Christmas, well its the though that counts, most of it went into the bin.

Also this week I have started a project I have been wanting to do for a while, My lovely hunny bought me some 10 second studio tools for my birthday and i have a doodlebug house, well i think you can guess, i am in the middle of ''metaling it up'', not going to show it half done but will put up full pics of it when i am finished.

Lastly, this week I have made near 20 ATC's to take with me on Saturday to the Harrogate show to swap with all the lovely Do-Crafters. See yah their!!

Play Day

Last week in a crafting class at Samual Taylors we had a play day. Pictured above is wax paper put through the cuttlebug in embossing folders and then ironed on to a piece of paper, you have to make sure you iron it well or it wont work. Once ironed let it cool then gently rub over with an ink pad, take a piece of kitchen roll and gently buff the ink to make it smooth. Below is the card we made from one of the finished pieces under the direction of the tutor Liz.

The next things we did as above were different tags. The first is using a paint dabber in a dabbing motion to create texture and then some crackle paint. The second is a mixture of paint dabbers and ink. The third was using crafty notions sprays and distress inks with grunge board. I like the third one best i think.

The other thing i tried out was new versamark inks that are like the watermark pad but in silver and gold. You can see the effect stamped onto the black card. I cant say that i was impressed with them so i don't think i will be buying them. Love the purple paper tho.

Cube

A little project i have been working on is one of them cubes if you remember from being a child that when you opened it up and folded it back showed a different image. This was my first attempt using ink and stamps. The stamps are from graphicus and the ink was various shades of green that i could put my hands on. Not bad for a first attempt but i do plan to take it apart and do it again working out how to make cleaner edges and better folds.

Fat Page Swap - This thursday its all about Colour

On the Trimcraft forum, LizzieM is hosting a monthly fat page swap. This months theme is Music and i must say i enjoyed making these while watching Hellboy last night on the telly. The are 4X4 inch square and the idea is to leave a space at the left side so the recipient can put them in their book. They started out as cream pieces of card altered with tea dye (left) and brushed corduroy(right) distress inks. a Music stamp i have was then stamped in versamark and black embossing powder. In some areas i over heated the powder to make it more vintage. Images from crafty individuals minis. Hope whoever gets them likes them as much as i do as i am finding it hard to part with them LOL.
Coincidentally these pages also fit into this weeks this Thursday theme of colour, well my fav colour is brown.

I Dare Challenge - Sherry

On a forum i entered an ''I Dare'' swap. The idea behind it is you are in a group of 5 people and you dare the 4 others to do something out of their comfort zone, within reason, you don't want to dare someone and make them spend lots of money. My Dare from Sherry was to decorate a house for her, the other 3 will do the same and she is going to make a wall hanging from it for her craft room. This is what i came up with, hope she likes it.

Arty Girlz Challenge 38 Faces

For this weeks challenge i decided that since its summer i would enter a Christmas card, i know going through your mind a big resounded huh summer Christmas that don't add up well I'm not a summer person give me winter sports holidays over laying on a beach cooking any day!!!!
.
So standard square card half of the front edge cut off, stamped with Adirondack ink and the colour slightly pulled out with a water brush. Alcohol inked main image then stamped with stazon. Ribbon added because it looked like it was lacking something :) Disclaimer: i did not design this card nor am i taking credit for the layout.

Aquarel Crayons

Also today i played with a new technique with aquarel crayons. I am very happy with the result and think i will play a bit more!! Disclaimer: i did not design this card nor am i taking credit for the layout.

Marvy Markers

I had a play today with marvy markers under the tuition of one of my friends. After several backgrounds i managed to be semi-happy with this one and turned it into a card. I have to say i am very disappointed with them. I am not sold on the technique at all and i don't think i will be buying any. Disclaimer: i did not design this card nor am i taking credit for the layout.

Stamping with a twist

Wyvernsian has organised a swap called ''stamping with a twist'' the twist being you must use a stamp and you cannot stamp onto paper/card/tissue/Mount board etc. If you make more than 1 ATC it must be stamped onto something different from the first. For my entry to the swap my first was to stamp onto a silk flower, i am quite happy with the outcome. My second was to stamp onto iridescent film and 3D it which i am very happy with how this one turned out.
